A.B. Chance SS175 Piles: 8/10/12 lead installed 25 ft.avg. SS175 Underpinning Brackets, C150-00299 (80 kip ultimate) A.B. Chance SS5 Soil Screws (8-in. helix) installed 10-14 ft.

DESCRIPTION:
The basement addition required concrete underpinning of the existing building's corners and an earth retention system to protect adjacent structures. A Chance Soil Screw retention system was used with Chance screws installed horizontally into the adjacent soil, then covered with welded wire fabric and shotcrete.

Underpinning Helical® Pier Anchorsunderpinning foundation applications
Helical® Pier anchors (square shaft) (SS) are designed for simple installation and to maximize the load capacity of each helix. Shafts and helixes are of steel and selected to meet or exceed specific installing torque and design loads. When utilizing the technology of the Helical Piers there is little concern regarding bending moments. Soil will sufficiently support the shaft and aid in establishing a good foundation.
