Helical Anchor & Foundation Engineering

All engineers are encouraged to contact Walder Foundation Products, Inc. We are your source for Helical® products in Virginia. If you are not in Virginia, we can still help. We participate and maintain a network of qualified and certified engineers for these products. Foundation Engineering includes design and simulation on tension and compression load with Helical® pile load testing.

Specific soils will require evaluation to determine the Chance Helical® Pier Foundation System that is right for the job. Steel screws known as anchors and piles are manufactured by the A. B Chance® Company and provide the engineered solutions for earth retention, new construction piles , and underpinned foundations. Engineering Software, Helicap™ was developed by A. B. Chance® and enables us to fine tune the Helical pile or Anchor for the application that will insure quality and longevity for the specific project.

Underpinning Helical® Pier Anchors

Helical® Pier anchors (square shaft (SS) are designed for simple installation and to maximize the load capacity of each helix. Shafts and helices are of steel and selected to meet or exceed specific installing torque and design loads. When utilizing the technology of the Helical Piers there is little concern regarding bending moments. Soil will sufficiently support the shaft and aid in establishing a good foundation.

Soil Nailing Application

The CHANCE® SOIL SCREW™ Retention Wall System reinforces the earth to construct gravity walls.

In this "soil nail" application, a Chance screw anchor acts in a bearing mode compared to grouted anchor, which relies on friction. This gives the SOIL SCREW Retention Wall System economic advantages, spaced along the entire length of SOIL SCREW anchors. They are ready for immediate loading as soon as installed.

Backhoes and skid-steer loaders can quickly rotate SOIL SCREW anchors into place. Anchor size and grid spacing are designed to local soil conditions and load requirements. A reinforced-shotcrete veneer often is applied to the wall face.
